How to remove an old antenna and install a new one on a Vanagon. Real easy.
Hi Ken, Im interested in purchasing a new antenna for my 1986 double cab Vanagon, but I do not believe I have/had a stock antenna on the van originally. Most of the antennas Ive seen on vans stood straight up. The one I had was swept back to match the slope of the windshield and had a second small black plastic mount near the end of the first section of the outer telescoping tube in which all other sections fit into when totally recessed. Do you have this type of antenna available? If necessary, I could dig up a photo of the front of my truck to send you. Also, do you sell the kit that has the round headlights mounts in the front grill? My square lights have just about had it and I'd love to get into sealed beam round headlights, plus I like the look! Thanks, Steve Crise

Steve, as far as I know, the closest thing that is available to replace what you have is the side mount antenna. It isn't an exact match as the hole that goes into the windshield frame is a little larger than the original one. Here is a link to this antenna: http://www.vanagain.com/shop/antenna-passenger-side-mount-only/ Take a look and let me know what you think. Ken
