Howdy! The temperature is dropping here at Van-Again and so are the leaves. We hope you are taking some time to drive down a country lane near you and see the wonderful fall colors. If you in an area where there is no change, maybe it is time to hit the road for a trip in the van for a fall colors tour.

Fall Maintenance Part 2

Last time we talked about getting better fuel mileage. This time I would like to take a few moments to talk about stopping your van. Brakes should be a part of your routine van maintenance as well. As important as it is for your van to be going down the road smoothly it is also very important that it can stop smoothly and quickly as well. The first inspection you should do is of your tires. Worn tires or tires that are the improper load rating for your van can cause you to have an accident even if everything else is functioning properly. Check out the NTSB's tire safety guideline website for more info.

As far as brakes go they should be inspected at least once a year. However if you feel a "low" pedal (which is when the pedal is low to the floor before it starts to actuate the brakes)or you have a "pulsing" pedal (where the pedal bounces a little under your foot) or you have any noise in the braking system it should be inspected immediately! You don't want to cause or be in an accident because your brakes are worn out. If you don't feel comfortable checking your brakes yourself you can usually have them inspected for free or a small fee at a local muffler/brake shop. At Van-Again we stock premium brake parts made around the world. We do plenty of brake work here so we know the best quality parts at the best prices.

In our next newsletter we will discuss servicing rear brakes in detail with pictures! At Van-Again we're out to prove that we're not only your VW parts source but also the place to go to get your VW Van questions answered. Go to the homepage.
