The
Waterboxer engine is no longer available
new so any motor you get will have to
be rebuilt. If anyone tells you they can
get you a new waterboxer motor they are either lying
or have a New Old Stock motor that is from
the early 90s (when VW stopped making
them).
I
have recently changed my policy regarding
Rebuilt waterboxer Engines and Heads. I am
no longer selling rebuilt engines or
heads. I have found that it works out
better to send the customer directly to
the rebuilder. That way if you have any
questions you can go directly to the
rebuilder and also you will get a better
price on the motor.
The
rebuilder I recommed is Bob Donalds of Boston
Engine
Bob has been in the business for a long
time, knows his stuff, and is probably
the best rebuilder of the waterboxer
engine in the US. VW rebuilds are no longer available. Click on the link to go to his
website or call him at (508)-653-7229.
Tell him Ken at Van-Again sent you.
As
for rebuilt heads, I have found that most
of the time this is not worth doing. The
heads usually aren't good cores (they all
have cracks between the valves) and by the time you spend
the money to ship the cores back, and pay
the core charge on the rebuilt heads you
could have bought new heads. So I only
sell new heads. AMC is the only company
that makes new waterboxer heads (VW
stopped in early 90s). See price below.
