Vanagon/T3 Engine Conversion Systems

After many years of supplying conversion systems for the T3 and listening to customer complaints about cabin noise, broken welds etc we have come to the current design as the only way to mount the engine.
Due to the resonance and harmonic characteristics of this lunch box, we have found it imperative to isolate the engine by using hydraulic engine mounts. This necessitates the use of a 15 degree or upright design rather than the solid rubber mounts of the 33 degree lay down design used on the original 1.6 D transporter.
This design necessitates the use of a raised engine deck to clear the engine on all two wheel drive models. The new deck is easy to install and accepts the engine cover. It is covered in a light weight grey carpet material.

Basic Engine Installation Kit

This basic kit includes: Specially designed flywheel and clutch assembly, a modified bell housing for perfect fitment as well as the transmission input shaft and starter. Custom transmission mount, starter mounting plate, and slave cylinder support bar ensure perfect fitment.

Complete Diesel Engine Installation Kit

This advanced kit includes: Bell Housing and Clutch Kit plus complete hydraulic engine mounting system and a raised rear platform and larger engine cover.

Foreign Auto Supply

The engine uses the new Motronic injection system, has 118 hp, and gets 20-24 mpg. 

The kits are around $6100* for manual or automatic Vanagons. We install these kits here at Van-Again and estimate 20 hours for installation or you can buy one and install it yourself. Sell your old motor and wiring harness to someone who needs a rebuildable motor to reduce your costs. See the pictures below:

We also have LUK clutch kits in stock that will work well with your Tiico conversion. If you are putting this conversion into a Manual transmission Vanagon you will want to replace your clutch with this new heavy duty German clutch kit. Part number is ZVW332010 and the price is $199.

Conversion Setup Computer Rental! You are supposed to set your Motronic Basic Setting and CO mixture and timing with a VW 1551 tool. Do you have access to one of these dealer only tools? If not we have a 1551 emulator for rent. It is an IBM laptop with the 1551 emulator software installed and also two cables for used with either the stock Tiico cable (who knows where that came from) or the proper "D" shaped connector that many folks are installing. We rent this tool for $75 for a 10 day rental. Should give you plenty of time to set up your Tiico engine properly. We also have a deluxe rental where you can rent the 1551 emulator and also a CO meter to set your CO as well. This rental would also be for 10 days but would be $99.
